Martin Ryan, an ex-New Yorker, is a resident of Connecticut. He, along with his wife Lorraine & their children, had summered in Connecticut from the early sixties on, 'til they became year-rounders. Having served in the military, Martin used the G.I. Bill to study fine art at the Art Students League Of New York, and, later, advertising and editorial design, and illustration, at The Workshop School Of Design.
Although early on he free-lance designed a series of record album covers, he pursued a career in "surface design" because it most resembled painting; that is: creating art for all home products -- such as dinnerware, wall coverings, upholstery fabrics, bedroom & bath, floor coverings & table linens. At the same time Martin worked as a consultant designer/art director for a number of corporations. Additionally he published "The Ryan Report," a design forecast newsletter.
Since retiring, Martin has engaged in writing fiction and political articles, plus cartooning--political and otherwise, and web development with his computers. He has only recently come back to fine art and illustration, focused mainly on wildlife. He believes he has a way to go before catching up with Lorraine's prodigious output. Martin is the designer and builder of this web site.
